I just used paint back when I had it. Now that I have Linux I'm using Gimp 2.6. That may be freeware so you might want to look into it. _________________

Are you putting 3 pics together side by side or editing a pic within a pic? To resize, right click, go to image, click on scale image, then enter the width you want. When you press tab after entering the width, it'll automatically adjust the height. But, I suggest you edit your pic first before resizing. _________________

I'm trying to take the backgrounds off the original pics and then past them on another back ground. like cut and past. _________________

Cool. For what you want to do, Gimp has the perfect tool. It's called intelligent scissors. Basically you place markers or nodes around the object you want to keep. When you finish placing the nodes, Gimp selects the outline of the object. You can then copy it and paste it onto a new background. Pretty simple and works pretty well. _________________

Photoshop CS 2 or newer I think works well, especially for brushes to make banners. _________________
