okay, here's kinda a few days all together... sorry for the upcoming rant......
sooooooooo a few weeks ago, i was crazy sick, and got written up for not going into work when i didnt know i was scheduled, even though when they called i told them i was really sick. i came in the next day even though i was throwing up all morning and wound up making myself sicker. also got lectures from three different managers.
then about 2 weeks ago i got what i thought was an allergic reaction, but it didnt go away. then it spread. and got worse. found out wednesday apparently when i was super sick, it was strep. and it was so bad, i developed a super massive skin infection. which i am about to be on my second dose of crazy strong antibiotics for.
when i told my manager wed by phone, her only concern was making sure i was coming into work yesterday, and yesterday i told my main manager, that wrote me up, and she goes, 'oh, okay.' neither of them cared i was that sick, or that i made it worse by coming in, that i should not have worked all week but got written up anyway, and no one even asked if i was contagious... i work in a clothing store....
im not, but how could they know that if they didnt ask? |
Geez. That's crazy. You'd think that they would be a bit more lenient since you are really sick. You should cough on them or something when you go back to work. _________________

Sorry Pampers, I been pretty sick myself lately, doubt it was measles, although I suppose I should wonder if I got sick from you XD gah...the last few days are horriable...anyway hope your feeling better.
I am taking a German course online (for those of you who know why, no comment. I am happy) I got took a quiz and got 98% so I am doing pretty good so far, but for those that know anything about german, I won't ever say "nice to meet you" X( freaking evil! need to find a easier way to say that... _________________ I'm dishonest. Found out I get to work another Saturday this weekend. 3rd in a row...Best thing is since I'm salary, it's for no pay! Yay.
Best yet, the other salaried people at the company aren't coming... (it is a job though, so I shouldn't complain, but still) _________________

Yeah, having worked in a salary position myself, I pretty much believe that they are there as a means to get free overtime for the company.
Doesn't your company give you "comp time", though? You know, they will give you an extra vacation day in exchange for the extra day you worked? _________________

Nope. Only time off we get is 10 Days (80 hours) of "PTO" days a year. 6 of which are taken up by the mandatory shutdown during Christmas/New Years. The other 4 are used up when you happen to get sick. So you hope you don't get sick more than once a year so you can actually take a personal day here and there.
I'm almost sure that's their strategy. Its actually better than it used to be, several years ago they had me playing mechanic in the field after hours... They said that "no one else knew how to diagnose and fix these engine computer/CANBUS controller problems", but I think they just didn't want to hire someone else. Now that I think about it, why would they? I serviced the machine for free, they get to charge the customer $80/hour for the repairs...which all go to the company of course. There were some 14 hour+ days. And you better not leave an hour early on Friday or anything...gotta use PTO for that.
So everyone, remember to be nice to your service guy, they could actually be an engineer working for free (And whatever you do, don't knock the product he designed, he might just take it personally )...For some reason, customers love to do that, escecially after you tell them the problem (they always just have to know) and you just get a blank stare back. _________________

Oh man, that's kind of harsh. Can you at least carry over your PTO hours from year to year if you don't use them? They let us do that where I work. I think they stop accumulating at around 350, though. I've heard that HR tells your department to make you take some PTO once you hit 300. In a few months I should be able to test that out. lol Yeah, I should probably take some time off. I think I'm just going to take January or something off next year. It's cold, and I don't want to go outside. _________________

Yea, we can carry it over...but no one actually has any to carry over ><
A lot of people were actually negative PTO to start this year. I hope they revise their policy soon, it's becoming silly (in a bad way). People just come to work sick, because they have to, since they have no time to take off. _________________
